Profile of Mr. Joseph Kwame Wumbee
Mr. Joseph Kwame Wumbee is a Development Administrator and the Executive Director of AG CARE Ghana, an indigenous Church-based non-government development organization with over thirty-four years of experience in the Management and Coordination of various development programmes and projects in Ghana.
He formally was appointed as Executive Director of AGREDS (now known as AG CARE Ghana) in 1996 and has served in that position since then. As Executive Director of the Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services (AGREDS), he has led a team of multi-disciplinary professionals for the last thirty-three years to undertake several initiatives within the fields of education, health, child sponsorship, street children, child trafficking, rural and community integrated development throughout Ghana.
Through his leadership AGREDS has pioneered some of the leading initiatives in the management of domestic as well as international disaster and relief efforts including work with Liberian, Togolese and Ivorian Refugees to improve their livelihoods.
Also, through his leadership the health department of the Church has seen some growth. For instance, the small clinic established in 1948 in Saboba has become a 114 bed hospital while the process has begun to upgrade the Nakpanduri Health Centre to a hospital.
Mr. Wumbee was Executive Director of AG CARE the Relief and Development department of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance (AAGA) in March 2001. Through this role he has supported Assemblies of God National Churches across Africa with technical support in their compassionate ministries work ranging from health, education and other livelihoods initiatives. Mr. Wumbee has also had the privilege of serving on different committees in varied compassion ministry efforts of the Africa Department of the Assemblies of God World Missions in Springfield, USA and was an independent Consultant to Convoy of Hope during their response to the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
He has served on the Board of Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) at different times since the late 1990’s until 2014. In this capacity he served on a number of Board Committees including the Constitutional Review Committee as well as the Steering Committee for the review and implementation between CHAG and the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Services.
Mr. Wumbee is self-motivated, passionate, trustworthy, innovative and committed to the cause of Christ and children at risk, the poor and marginalized. In addition, he is a great team builder and player with good communication and listening skills, results-oriented, with a lot of drive and initiative and extensive networking capabilities.
Mr. Wumbee holds a Masters degree in Politics of Alternative Development Strategies from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands, a B. A. (Hons) in Psychology and Economics from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Certificate in Epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore, USA, a certificate in Health Sector Reform from the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, Netherlands and a Post-graduate diploma in Health Systems Management from the Galilee International Management Institute, Israel and is fully conversant with management techniques and practices, Program Development, Fundraising and Volunteer management.
